To amplify the reach, influence and impact of the Breaking The Plastic Habit programme, Canary Wharf is collaborating with businesses across the Estate in the form of our Flagship Partners.
To deliver our goal of embedding an Estate wide shift in single-use plastic consumption by both individuals and businesses, it is crucial that the individuals that interact with our initiatives in public areas of the Estate can continue to reduce their use of plastic once they are back in their place of work.
Flagship Partners are like-minded key businesses that are committed to reducing single-use plastic within their operations and influencing behavioural change to challenge the throwaway culture we see today. Through collaboration and working partnerships, we will draw on the learnings made by multiple stakeholders to ensure the visitors of Canary Wharf have a unique plastic free user experience across the full Estate.
Morgan Stanley launched their Plastic Waste Resolution commitment in early 2019, which pledges to which will attempt to remove 50 million tonnes of plastic waste from rivers, oceans, landscapes and landfills by 2030, by driving and scaling the investments, partnerships, programmes and research needed to tackle the growing challenge of plastic waste.
Launched in October 2018 (the business was formerly the Financial & Risk division of Thomson Reuters), Refinitiv has recognised the importance of embedding sustainable behaviours throughout their organisation, from the outset. When the business was established, employees were asked what sustainability issues they were passionate about, which inevitably included eliminating single-use plastics. As a result, tackling plastic volumes was mapped and embedded into their approach for 2019 and beyond through the formation of Sustainable Action Teams.
