Canary Wharf Host Breakfast Briefing To Launch New Helpful App
On the 10th of January, Canary Wharf are hosting a Breakfast Briefing to exclusively reveal the first look of the HELPFUL reward app, their new unique engagement tool which simplifies and incentivises reuse and recycling.
Piloted by Canary Wharf, not only does the app incentivise, it gives members of the community the knowledge and resources needed for them to find ways to reuse and recycle across the Estate.
At the event, Canary Wharf’s progress and upcoming schedule of activities for 2019 will be discussed, as well as their progress towards the Plastic-Free Community status in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage.
Since the launch of the Breaking The Plastic Habit programme on World Environment Day 2018, Canary Wharf have installed seven water refill stations, a Deposit Return Vending Machine and 83 retailers no longer issue single-use plastic straws after the success of their #3weeks campaign.
These activities have contributed to the removal of 600,000 single-use plastic items and have captured a further 1 million for onward recycling.
The panel of speakers at the event includes Managing Director and Group Company Secretary of Canary Wharf Group, John Garwood, Hugo Tagholm, founder of Surfers Against Sewage, one of the UK’s most influential environmental charities, and Nick Green, former Head of Clubcard at Tesco and Director of Internal Communications at Sky.
Canary Wharf’s 12-month Breaking The Plastic Habit Programme has been designed to tackle single-use plastics across the Estate and pilot new technologies, spark innovation and collaboration, and encourage behavioural change as a model for commercial centres, businesses and communities nationwide.
